Abhyanga ("oil massage") is a form of Ayurvedic medicine that involves massage of the body with dosha-specific warm herb infused oils. The oil is usually pre-mixed with herbs for specific conditions. Abhyanga massage serves not only to relieve pain but especially as preventive medicine increasing circulation, stimulating and strengthening the lymphatic system, and opening the flow of life force in order to cleanse and revitalize the body.
Shirodhara is a form of Ayurveda therapy that involves gently pouring medicated oil over the forehead for a period of time.
